In accordance with the legislation on the protection of personal data and the processing of personal data (GDPR) which came into force on 25 May 2018 in the European Economic Area, we outline how personal data protection is carried out. The privacy of our members has always been a key issue and has been codified in the organizations’s charter from the beginning and we treat that information with the utmost care. What information is stored by BDSM in Iceland?
The organization only stores the information that members register themselves when they register as members of BDSM in Iceland. This information is: Name, social security number, pseudonym and e-mail address, whether a payment slip can be sent and when the annual fee was last paid.
The membership registry is kept by the organization’s board and only those on the board have access to it.The registry is never distributed in any way. Once a year, payment requests for membership fees are sent to the bank of the members who choose it, and this is done in cooperation with the organization’s commercial bank.
A member who does not pay an annual fee does not have the right to vote or other rights, but is considered a member of BDSM in Iceland unless a written withdrawal is received. The organization keeps the information until the person withdraws from the organization, but only for a limited time.
In order to respect the intention of the legislature that there must be time limits on the storage of personal information, we delete information about members who have not paid membership fees in the last seven (7) years as stated in the by-laws.
Communications with partners and external parties are kept for the same number of years.
For what purpose is information stored?
Primarily to enforce the statutes of BDSM in Iceland, according to which only registered members have the right to sit and vote at the General Meeting and organization meetings. Information is also stored for the purpose of contacting members and for the distribution of membership certificates. Information is also stored to confirm membership for member associations and partners at the individual’s own request.
Communications are stored for the purpose of being able to continue discussions with the person or organization that has previously been in contact with the organization.
Where can I see the information stored about me by BDSM in Iceland?
You can send us an email at [email protected] and we will let you know what information is stored. We will do our best to respond within a few days. In order for the mail to be processed appropriately, we ask you to include in the subject of the email “Personal information”. You can also ask for the information to be deleted, which is equivalent to withdrawal from the organization.
Does BDSM in Iceland share information?
As mentioned before, only members of the board have access to the document containing the membership registry. The membership registry is only stored in this document and in a document stored in Google Drive to which the same restrictions apply. The only information that BDSM in Iceland shares is non-identifiable information, for example due to surveys and when attendance at courses and events is compiled. However, banks must be provided with a social security number for the collection of membership fees. We also confirm membership with partners but only with the consent of the member each time.
