We try to have the community here in Iceland as welcoming as possible. For someone new it’s probably confusing to navigate, so we decided to put up this note as a signpost.

The Icelandic BDSM organization
We hold courses and workshops. We have been doing 5-6 educational events but have added a few more in the last couple of years. We do introduction to BDSM but also more specialized workshops like bondage, impact play, Dominance/submission and more.

Reykjavik munch
Munches are meetups where kinky people show up and talk about whatever they feel like.
There is a regular munch in Reykjavik, first Wednesday and third Monday every month. Every once in a while they don’t happen, due to vacations or holidays, but the organizers are awesome and the munch is almost always there.
Quite a few people who show up do not speak Icelandic, so don’t be shy even if you don’t speak Icelandic. Most Icelanders will try their best to stick to English when someone doesn’t speak Icelandic.

The biggest online community is on Fetlife. We will add links to groups at the bottom of this note, but the biggest group and the most active is BDSM in Iceland
There are TONS of Icelandic groups for all sorts of kinks. Most of them are not very active. Not all of them are in the list below, however just check out some profiles of people in Iceland and see which groups they are members of.
A lot of the discussion in these groups happens in Icelandic, but it’s usually fine to post in English and a lot of people will answer in English.
Reykjavik munch discord server (Not only for Reykjavik!!)
This is a discord server which started out as online munches, due to Covid. It’s grown to be a great online community. It’s only for chatting though, no cyber play. Everyone is expected to use English there, so there are no issues with not understanding Icelandic.
This is mostly for text chatting, but there are regular video chats as well. If you are uncomfortable with video you can participate using voice only, a lot of people do.
