A new board of BDSM in Iceland was elected at the General Meeting on the 8th of March. The board has met and set a policy for the operating year 2025-2026, or until the General Meeting in March 2025. During this period, the board intends to focus on these areas:
- BDSM in Iceland will hold Regular Events.
- Our goal is to organize events on a monthly basis, aiming for announcements well in advance. We aim to establish a clear schedule of standard events at regular intervals so that events will be predictable and easy to plan for.
- Creating and Curating Original Course Content.
- We aim to start working on a dossier of our own course content with the goal of having tangible material to implement at the start of the next board term. This original course content will be foundational kink education for the purpose of presenting yearly to both new people in the community and to veterans. We also plan to incrementally add informational and educational content to the organization’s website.
- Community engagement and networking
- Strengthen ties with the BDSM community. We want to reach more people within the community by creating a flyer that event organizers can distribute and make available at their events.
- Increase awareness among the public. We aim to increase visibility of the organization with emphasis on activity on social media platforms that we use today, Facebook and Fetlife as well in traditional media and alternative media such as podcasts. The board plans to start working on creating an informational brochure that can be distributed and published on the organization’s website, as well as exploring the possibility of updating the information already available on Icelandic websites.
- Reaching out to other queer groups. The board will work to have more outreach and crossover with fellow queer organizations in Iceland, possibly even planning joint gatherings and events.
