A new board of BDSM in Iceland was elected at the General Meeting on the 28th of March. The board has met and set a policy for the operating year 2026-2027, or until the General Meeting in March 2027. During this period, the board intends to focus on these areas:
- BDSM in Iceland will hold Regular Events.
- Our goal is to organize events on a monthly basis, aiming for announcements well in advance. We aim to establish a clear schedule of standard events at regular intervals so that events will be predictable and easy to plan for.
- Improvements to the association’s website
- The board intends to update the association’s website with the aim of making it more practical and user-friendly.
- Safety committee. The board will explore the feasibility of participating in the establishment of a safety committee to facilitate information sharing among stakeholders, clarify reporting and communication channels in conflict-related matters, and otherwise promote safety within the community, to the extent possible within the natural limitations of a volunteer organization.
- Community engagement and networking
- Strengthen ties with the BDSM community. We want to reach more people within the community by creating a flyer that event organizers can distribute and make available at their events.
- Increase awareness among the public. We aim to increase visibility of the organization with emphasis on activity on social media platforms that we use today, Facebook and Fetlife as well in traditional media and alternative media such as podcasts. The board plans to start working on creating an informational brochure that can be distributed and published on the organization’s website, as well as exploring the possibility of updating the information already available on Icelandic websites.
- Reaching out to other queer groups. The board will work to have more outreach and crossover with fellow queer organizations in Iceland, possibly even planning joint gatherings and events.
